My views on reservation

Written couple of weeks back!.This was a reply to one of the Proponents of Reservatiopn.

Quote:
" True to what you said that this could be the softest way that we could do for the underpriveliged class .. and as you mentioned that its still a bad taste even after that. Why do you think so ? Its just the discontenment of the people toward the system that has cropped up.This issue is highly politicised and sensitive too.Politicians have used this as a tool or a medium to gain Votes by sympathising with people .. things unfortunately worked for them but it doesnt work that way ,, you have to actually do some thing substantial.

Casteism came to our societies not by religion or some divine force but because of divison of labour thats all ,, there were people who had to fight, to rule and then people to do the other underhand jobs thats all Yes they were exploited by the Zamindars and the Rich they are exploited still .. I do agree that there are downtrodden people of that class stiill .. but my question to you is that is this actually reaching the people who need it or is it just being used by the common man to gain benefits by producing a fake certificates .. ?

People and politicains will just advocate by the cause and make ammendments in the constitution and wait for the next election results. But the point is who is being benfitted in real we,they or the politicians?Atleast lets keep the elite educational insitutions away from all these issue why pull them in the embroglio. Why provide free seats under the quota system if thats the case make a clause stating that only whose annual income is below such and such can avail , and then you will see that how many people actually avail it and how many even who qualify to avail it cant avail it just not because they are OBC but because they would have other constraints in life.We should address those issue first,Why grant to people who are already above that level but still under the category .People under reservation have come a long way they no longer actually need all these speacial privileges atleast the current generation.

We must consider the fact that when we are increasing the quota we are also reducing the other part of the quota and if we use the pretex of telling that there are is a large part of people who need to avail it then let me remind you that the general category is no less populated in terns of ratio.Like your worthy friend said that it is a soft way I think its just the most hopeless way .. to make people's life better you are just giveing them nothing better than alms in disguise.Let them work for it .. let there be a cutoff marks ,, for them .. of corse it is there not so less that it lies near the range of a a failing standard. Now the cutoff for them is atleast 50% of marks in school .. for God sake the 50% is a second class and near the third class margin.Dont you think this will degenerate the quality of the batch where they get into. What will the feeling of a person who slaughs and gets 97+ just to be in the same batch with a person who is 50%+ considering the fact that they have the same family background. How would you respond to this example ..dont you think you will live with animosity and dejection all your life will you be able to digest this fact all your life.Yes people who are eligible with good marks its ok for them to have some grants atleast .. but not to every Tom dick and Harry just becuase he has some caste stamped behind him.You may argue that they were treated and suppresseed and humilited badly .. but dont we realise a fact that people were equally illiterate at that time from both the upper class and the lower class et all.It was the ignorance of the common society that had done taht .. Things are not the same now anymore atleast in the towns and with people who are educated.

What I want to bring into the picture is EDUCATION not RESERVATION should be the right to all which is a part of our constitution.and the second things is in towns and big cities ,, we have accepted the fact.If you want this thing to change go to the Villages where ignorance prevails .. a Dalit woman gets raped in public what have we done for that ... we didnot even have this protection law against women forget dalits ;in our books and we talk about womens rights and equlaity all over the place. She gets raped it becomes a public issue the party is under threat ,, and the solution increase the quota .. but will the woman be helped in any ways? Will her trauma and pain be over will her soceity take her back. Would you dare to accept her ..NO a big NO then where the RESERVATION funda go we politicise the issue blow it up some ammendment in the constitution and we are all happy and snug.. we must adress the issue which is flawed the grass root level. We dont have Schools with roofs no toilet amenities even in places which are in close proximity to the cities and towns.

Let me take this simple case of this guy from IIM who went out to set his own restaurant and food chain now in the IIMs.I hope you have heard that news.He got through the BITS exams his mother was just a mere shopowner abandoned by her husband. He also made it to the IIMs as well with or with out reservation. He became a big time story. The point I want to illustrate is that one should prove his worth if given a privilege and not just be happy and snug thinking that its a bed of roses all the way.How many of them you think do.People go to the IIMs just to go flunk and struggle with the subjects just because they are not that good enough to handle it but because they are there not by choice but by chance and the chance is reservation.Out of the whole quota of students that get in through the system of reservation barely few make it through and when they make it also they know that outside they can use the stamp again if not in the private enterprises certainly in the government intsituitions of work.Do you think the common man will like this when he differs from him in just the caste.Again I know you will point out to the old days but I want to mention is that those days they were completely deprived of their rights but now they are not anymore they are being given the same oppurtunities everywhere like the common general class we dont see that now anymore do we ?? NO again.

And our minster here doesnt even know the exact figures of the population he has no right to make ammendments. To make ammendments which moves the sentiments of the nation you need facts not just the suggestion and consent of some people who are just there to make it back to power and it is we who elect them.We qoute Equality and Fraternity in the Preamble of our consitution then where are we equal any more ARE WE .. we have literates and illiterates together we have the rich and the poor together where is the EQUALITY.

In the US Martin Luther advocated for liberation not for reservation , he wanted that the Negers be given respect .. today they have come so far .. on their own merit were they not exploited were they not humiliated but there is a difference .. they did not loose the self respect that they had. they wanted to go to the same college as the whites but they never wanted reservations anywhere.Do you see the difference.. If you see it is a very subtle one .. which your worthy friend may not realise and neither of us would.Thats where the difference in thoughts and actions lie.As for France that you quoted I dont know much ,,but for Russia when they threw open Prestroika and Glastnost to them they just crumbled. They went by the socialist approach where are they now ,, once a superpower is now in debts what a shame we also followed suit .of being a socialist equal rights for all if equal rights for all then why reservations , make all common but . where are we heading to ,, are we just not being a part of a billion hypocrites trying to advocate a cause which even we know is not the solution? " UNQUOTE.

Like one of the imminent person rightfully said " WE ARE THE ONLY COUNTRY THAT IS FIGHTING TO BE CALLED BACKWARD"

"Quarter-Life Crisis."

This is my first blog so all comments and criticisms are welcome....I had this wid me for long time..I guess its very true and relates to most of us. Hope you enjoy the read -thought provoking

They call it the "Quarter-Life Crisis." It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. Your start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.
You start realizing that people are selfish and that maybe true. Those friends that you thought were so close to you aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you don't recognize is that they are realizing that too, and aren't really cold, catty, mean, or insincere but that they are as confused as you are.
You look at your job...and it is not even close to what you thought you would be doing. Or maybe you are looking for a job and realize that you are going to have to start at the bottom and that really scares you. Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain oundaries in your life and are constantly adding things to your list of what is acceptable and what isn't. One minute, you are insecure and then the next, secure.
You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward. You get your heart broken easily and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you. Or you lay in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough that you want to get to know better. Or maybe you love someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you know that you aren't a bad person.
Getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic. You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry about loans, money, and the future and making a life for yourself...and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender!
What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.
This is for all my twenty-something friends...maybe it will help you all feel that you aren't alone in this state of confusion...
